Valuation Office Revision Books

Valuation Office Revision Books (or Cancelled Books)

The Valuation Office Revision Books are updated versions of Griffith’s Valuation that recorded any changes to the occupancy, ownership, size or value of a property. The books run from the mid 1850s to the 1970s when the valuation of non-commercial property in Ireland ceased. This means that it is possible to trace the occupancy or ownership of a property forward or backward over 120 years.

The Books are organised by townland, electoral division, civil parish and county. The Revision Books for the Republic of Ireland are not available online.

If you would like to purchase images of the Revision Books for a property in the Republic of Ireland, please fill in the form below.

Orders are currently taking between 5-7 working days.  However, as access to the Valuation Office is limited by appointment, on occasion orders may take up to 10 working days to be completed.

The fee for each order is €45

We can only work from a household that has already been confirmed as being present in the townland. This requires that you identify a household in either Griffith’s Valuation or the 1901 or 1911 Census of Ireland.

It is vital that the townland name and family name provided by you in the order form below is accurate. We do not provide a refund if the information submitted is incorrect.  Please use either the 1901 or 1911 Census of Ireland or Griffith’s Valuation to establish the name of the head of the household and the correct spelling of the townland as well as the district electoral division or civil parish.

Once your order has been fulfilled, we will email you with digital images of the relevant page or pages from the Revision Books, for the household you requested.
